What is 'Your Fertile Mind'?
The Rodney Fertility Clinic was founded thirty years ago by Paul Entwistle, a Fertility Scientist and Counsellor. A 200 year old Georgian house in Liverpool's Rodney Street (the "Harley Street" of this Capital of Culture City) has been the home of the Clinic since its inception. The Rodney Fertility Clinic was established in 1981 as private fertility clinic providing a wide range of fertility investigations and treatments for both male and female problems. These services were provided in a manner that supported and empowered its clients, allowing them as much as possible to take control of their fertility, and make personal decisions based on their needs as well as on their medical priorities. Natural therapies were incorporated into treatment schedules where indicated, and Counselling and Hypnotherapy were an integral part of all of its activities.
There have been many advances in fertility diagnosis and treatment, since those early days, but sadly these advances rarely have been matched by a corresponding increase in the support and counselling aspects of fertility, and patients have becoming increasingly confused and lost in the fertility process. In 1997 a decision was made therefore to focus the Clinic's activities more closely on the advice, support and information side of fertility. Although a limited range of investigations are still carried out "in house", the greater part of the Clinic's energies and time are now devoted to support, counselling and fertility enhancement advice.
This can include discussions about the fertility investigation and results; about treatment options and their implications; about other options to building a family when fertility treatments have proved unsuccessful; and about coming to terms with childlessness. A number of natural therapies are available "in house" and local referral is available for others.
Your Fertile Mind at The Rodney Fertility Clinic endeavours to offer a service of the same high standard as that provided by the major private and academic fertility clinics, but complementary to their technological approach. The aim of the Clinic remains that of maximising patients' understanding of their sub-fertility situation, so enabling them make the best use of the full range of investigations and treatments now available.
